LGBTQ+ Psychological Services

Affirming, Inclusive, and Expert Care

Living outside of heterosexual and cisgender norms can be joyful, but it often comes with specific forms of stress. In my work, I aim to empower individuals to better understand themselves, heal from harmful experiences, and develop the skills to live rich, meaningful lives.

I work with clients across the LGBTQ+ spectrum, their family members, and allies. In addition to clinical therapy, I provide training and consultation for organisations looking to better support LGBTQ+ communities.

LGBTQ+ Affirmative Therapy

My work is rooted in both evidence-based clinical practice and community knowledge. As a cisgender woman who identifies as queer and bisexual, my professional learning sits alongside my lived experience and history in activism to linform my understanding of how marginalized identities impact mental health.

I offer a safe, inclusive space where you can address the concerns that matter to you. Many clients come to me to explore gender and sexuality; others simply want to see a therapist where they can address broader challenges without having to explain their identity.

Potential Areas of Focus

  • Identity Exploration: Exploring your feelings and experiences without judgment.

  • Coming Out: Navigating the steps toward openness and managing the reactions of others.

  • Internalised Stigma: Challenging negative beliefs regarding homophobia, biphobia, or transphobia.

  • Minority Stress: Coping with rejection, hostility, and discrimination.

  • Mental Health: Support for anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma.

  • Relationships: Addressing challenges in intimate, platonic, or family connections.

  • Resilience & Advocacy: Empowering you to access community and advocate for your needs.

  • Intersectionality: Exploring how your gender and sexual identity intersects with other aspects of identity such as race, class, and disability.

Experience & Expertise

The majority of my career has been in the NHS and I’ve often seen how mainstream services can struggle to meet the needs of LGBTQ+ patients. Prior to my Clinical Psychology training I volunteered in community mental health groups for LGBTQ+ people, and during training became increasingly interested in working with concerns related to sexuality and gender. I later went on to work in NHS HIV services. Here much of my work was around supporting gay and MSM (men who have sex with men) clients, often navigating significant internalised homophobia and stigma.

When I began working in private practice in 2017 I chose to focus on working with LGBTQ+ populations. I have particular experience in working with LGBTQ+ people who are experiencing health concerns and disability, including neurodivergence.

I am listed on Pink Therapy’s directory for therapists specialising in working with gender, sexual and relationship diversity (GSRD). I have previously presented at their annual conference on neurodivergence in LGBTQ+ groups and also been involved in their mentoring program for therapists in training. Additionally I have taught on Sexuality and Disability on the Salomon’s postgraduate Clinical Neuropsychology course. I continue to be involved in community events, such as stewarding at London Trans Pride.
